A new Fallout modification merges the worlds of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas into a single, unified adventure.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas are both strong standalone experiences, but given how similar their foundations are, modders have repeatedly worked on projects that combine the two into one expanded game.
One well-known example is A Tale of Two Wastelands, which imports all Fallout 3 content into New Vegas, letting players experience the Capital Wasteland story using New Vegas’ mechanics and systems.
Fallout: Nuclear Sunset Will Tide Us Over Until We Get A Remaster Of 3
Now, a brand-new mod brings together A Tale of Two Wastelands with dozens of additional modifications, effectively creating what many consider the ultimate Fallout package.
According to posts shared on Reddit, the Nuclear Sunset mod turns Fallout 3 and New Vegas into one complete game. Players can access both storylines, including all base content and DLC, along with every location, quest, and character from each title.
The project also introduces new story missions that logically connect the two regions, explaining why the protagonist travels between distant parts of the wasteland. These new questlines are fully voiced, adding roughly 7,000 lines of original dialogue.
Alongside this, the mod includes extensive visual upgrades, improving textures, lighting, and weather systems to modern standards.
The game maps have also been reworked, with new structures added, terrain adjusted, and several environments redesigned from the ground up.
Beyond that, the mod adds more than 60 new mechanics and features, plus fresh enemies, weapons, and perks. With so much content included, players are encouraged to explore the full mod list to see everything that has been changed.
Altogether, the package combines around 1,700 individual mods, delivering an enormous amount of new material while remaining faithful to established Fallout lore. The goal is to preserve the original tone of the series while significantly expanding its scope.
Players are advised to use more powerful hardware than what was common when the original games launched between 2008 and 2010. While Fallout 3 originally required only about 2 GB of RAM, this combined mod experience is best played with roughly 12–16 GB of memory for smooth performance.
For now, this massive mod should help satisfy fans while they wait for the rumored Fallout 3 Remaster to become a reality.
